The main course that we offer is a three year full time course in dance performance and teacher training. Classes include ballet, modern, tap, contemporary, street dance, pilates, yoga, choreography, auditioning and business skills. It is not necessary to have experience of all the dance genres at the start. (We also offer some shorter courses. See below.)

Year One

  • Ground work in all dance genres, including graded examinations.
  • Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise to Music instructor’s course and Pre-Associate work.
  • Practical work for Active IQ, ETM. Teacher training experience.

Year Two

  • Continued grade work and examinations.
  • Intensive training in all dance genres.
  • Pre-Associate examinations.
  • Associate work and exam work for fast track students.
  • Auditioning skills.
  • Teacher training experience.
  • Additional subjects, eg. CV writing skills, business studies.

Year Three

  • Associate course work, classes and graded examinations.
  • Intensive training in all genres.
  • Teacher training experience.

Additional courses available at Studio Dance

Associates: 3 years, part time

  • 2 genre modules of your choice (from the full time syllabus).

Associates: single genre module

  • Teachers already holding an Associates qualification may ‘top up’ their skills with any module/s of their choice. This option requires you to have teaching experience.

Studio Fitness Instructor

  • Level 2 course combining Physiology and Anatomy and Exercise to Music (ie ‘aerobics’ ).

Continuing Professional Development

  • A range of workshops and seminars aimed at qualified / experienced fitness instructors and dance teachers wishing to expand their class skills and repertoire.

The course work over three years also includes a certain amount of home study. Successful students will need to be personally motivated to complete the required course work at the college and at home. Throughout the year, the timetable may be adjusted to provide the greatest benefit to students.


Assessments - All students will be assessed termly during the three year course.

Peformances - During the three year course, students will have the opportunity to perform in shows in professional theatres and dance venues.
